Walk Kent aims to inspire more adults and children to go walking and explore Kent. It is a celebration of this county’s footpaths, woodlands, historic buildings, coastal routes, long distance trails and all the countryside in-between that can be discovered on foot.
Kent Outdoor Explorers, Little Wanders and Woodland Wanders join together to collectively form Walk Kent.
Come and explore with us on one of our many group walks and events for adults and children. Our special events help you experience the local culture and offer an insight into the seasonal produce of Kent.
Founder, Walk Kent
When I moved to Kent a few years ago, I felt excited to explore my new surroundings. I was thrilled to encounter Kent’s diverse range of landscapes which include farmland, orchards, marshes, coast, chalk downs, ancient forest and even the UK’s only desert at Dungeness.
In 2015 I decided to set up a walking group to share the places and routes I was discovering in my spare time. I trained as a Lowland Leader with the Mountain Training Association and created Kent Outdoor Explorers, which is now one of the largest and friendliest walking groups in Kent.
This further inspired me to get children out walking and exploring too. I created Woodland Wanders and Little Wanders for families to discover the woods and walk together with other families. Woodland Wanders meets in school holidays and each walk includes seasonal activities and wild play. Little Wanders is aimed at pre-school children and meets each Monday morning come rain or shine.
